Mother/ Attorney/ Councilmember

I’m honored to have served as your councilmember, mayor, and vice mayor these past nine years. Working alongside you to move Belmont forward, while preserving the unique character of people and place that all drew us to this community.

When I first ran in 2015, I was balancing work as an attorney and planning commissioner, raising a 9-year-old daughter and remodeling our home. Today, our daughter just completed her freshman year at UC Davis, and I’ve had the honor of serving two terms on the City Council. As your Councilmember, we’ve achieved significant milestones together; and, my leadership on local, regional, and statewide boards has built us valuable connections and brings direct benefits to Belmont’s health, safety, and quality of life. 

Since moving to Belmont in 2005, I’ve seen our city change. I’m running for a third term to continue serving our neighborhoods; and strategically evolve to meet the future. I’m laser-focused on our top priorities: providing excellent police, fire, and city services; reducing traffic congestion on major streets; renewing our parks and preserving open spaces; enhancing pedestrian and bike safety; ensuring our seniors and youth remain active and safe with investments in a new Barrett Community Center; working with Stanford and NDNU to keep higher education in Belmont while mitigating impacts; placemaking; and continuing the promise of Measure I to repave streets for District 4. I’m committed to economic development, supporting local small businesses, and investing your tax dollars responsibly at City Hall.

As the climate continues to change, I’ve taken on leadership roles to protect our environment such as vice-chair of the Silicon Valley Clean Water Board.  The 20 mayors in San Mateo County appointed me to the Bay Area Air Quality Management District and Governor Newsom appointed me to the Air Resources Board, bringing a local perspective on critical issues like air and water quality, natural resource protection, zero-emission vehicles and wildfire preparedness, benefitting every resident and business in Belmont. I’m a trusted voice and convener for strategic change.

With the support of leaders like Congresswoman Jackie Speier, Congressman Kevin Mullin, and Senator Josh Becker, former Senator Jerry Hill, Assemblyman Marc Berman, Mayor Julia Mates, and many other community leaders and Belmont residents, I’m ready to continue representing Belmont with integrity and vision. I will listen to all voices, respect all opinions, and work tirelessly on behalf of you, your family, and our community.
